Road Works

Temporary Road Closure of the L8950 Abbey Road (Link Road to N51) in Navan is ongoing for 12 weeks.

Spring Break

School holidays are fast approaching which will offer a breather to commuters in the morning traffic.

Parents will have been looking for distraction events so check out our Special Events section and tell us what you've got planned.

Keep an eye out too for Easter sales and there's so many easter eggs already on offer.

Autism Awareness Month

Autism Awareness Day was April 2nd but it's an 'everyday' experience and challenge for those families dealing with the condition.

We all need to be aware of how we behave around those with sensory issues and teach our children about them too.

We discovered this brief article from 2018 which does rather a good job of presenting worthwhile information about managing our environment.

There is also a call to schools to make their environment more inclusive and supportive.

Waiting to Plant

Typically at Easter there is a rush to plant flowers and summer bedding plants. With the recent morning frosts you'd be well advised to hold off planting tender flowers for a few more weeks.

Johnstown Wood Estate have recently planted hardy bushes along the boundary wall with Dunville. It should stop the wall being a shortcut until the access path is opened at the Athlumney Centre.

Johnstown Tidy Towns will be looking to host a planting session in early May at the former Petrol Station verge.

Let them know if there's anywhere else in need of plants this year?

Healthy Gardens

We're keen to promote changing our gardening habits to encourage more wildlife which is so important for the health of our environment.

Bee-Wise have a beautiful garden to inspire you and are hosting an opportunity this month for our younger Residents to build a Bug House & Bee Hotel.

Singing to the Top

Congratulations to the Sea of Change Choir on reaching the 2019 Ireland's Got Talent Semi Finals and the wild card into the Finals. A fantastic achievement and credit to all involved which includes some members from our local area.

We hope the first audition clip encourages those affected by Cancer and inspires those wishing to take on a new challenge.

"From terrible things great things can happen. Cancer can invade our bodies but it can never take away our souls."

Community Questions

Have you got your list of questions ready for the election candidates who will be calling door 2 door looking for your vote?

Local Knowledge

We've recently added a list of Local Playgrounds to our Local Info Section.

What can we add for Teenagers since they seam to have.....?

If you have a suggestion on any useful information links to make the section really helpful simply send us a suggestion or ask a question.

Horse Racing Festival

The Easter Bank Holiday Weekend also marks the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse Racecourse. Find out more from last year's article.

Election Stance

Recently the social media group NSCU defined their stance and will not host any political advertising in the run up to the May Local Elections.

For clarity we state where we stand on political commentaries.

1 step forward or 2 steps back?

Blackwater Park has the latest version of a playground but are we any closer to having one in Navan South?

Meath Food Bank

Please offer your support by donating Food or Vouchers.

Easter can be particularly difficult if it's a choice between keeping the family warm or providing Easter treats.

100th Cap

Bryan McKeever gained his 100th AIL Cap for Navan RFC with a win against Dolphin RFC on Saturday 6th April.

Captaining Navan in the back to back promotions over the last 2 seasons we're seeing the team thrive.

Historic Petition

A petition is calling for a stop to the dereliction and neglect of the historic buildings in Navan Town.

Take a moment to show your support.

Anyone for a Riverside Walk?

We look into a recent suggestion to create a local footpath along the Boyne.

Musical Fitness

Not everyone is into sports that use a gym or even a ball.

We called into Fitsteps and their Strictly Fantastic Classes and they let us make a short video clip about their class.

Poster Free Zone?

Source: Philippine general election at Quezon City's 4th district

It's not as bad as the image from the Philippines above but environmental waste is not the message most politicians wish to promote.

Across Ireland, and including Navan, requests have been made to election candidates to refrain from hanging any election posters.

Will candidates practice what they preach?

Outdoor Gym

The outdoor gym funded by an initiative from Meath County Council and Meath LSP has been installed in Blackwater Park.

Positioned next to the car park it's on the opposite side to the playground.

Now we just need the weather to be kind.

Exam Help

We're approaching that time of year again when students might need that little bit extra help in the run up to exams.

Joe McCormack returns to offer his Exam Support.

Controller Needed

We've seen the traffic jam, the traffic cones, parents and teachers trying to keep the traffic flowing.

Now the St Stephen's School Principal is asking the Council to appoint a Traffic Warden to help protect School Children safety.

Award Winner

Congratulations to Ischia Hair, Beauty & Wig Salon the first ‘Hair, Beauty & Wig Salon’ in Ireland to ever receive the ‘Best In Class’ recognition.
