Shop Locally

Lockdown introduced more people to online shopping and it has served us very well during a difficult time by being convenient and safe but it's not good for our local Community. By choosing to buy Irish products is good but buying it from local shops is so much better.

As more local businesses start to reopen on the coming months it's vitally important that we invest in our community. We all know products can be sourced cheaper elsewhere but it's not a level playing field for local shops. Few of those far away online suppliers employ local people, perhaps even fewer offer employees a decent contract or job security and none are likely to sponsor prizes for local schools or clubs, or care whether the local economy can fund our front line workers and health care? Let's not even discuss the corporate taxes which many big names manage to cleverly reduce.

Just because you can order online for either convenience or cash savings doesn't make it morally right to continue after local shops reopen. If you can buy locally within our neighborhood it makes a very real difference to Your Community.

On June 8th we enter the next phase of our new sense of normality where nothing will be the same whist we're living in the presence of Covid19. The personal shopping experience is going to be quite different. We'll all be very nervous and apprehensive but we will adapt to it in the coming months.
