Plastic Poster Free ?

Lack of Posters

A recent success story for the JTT who asked Local Election Candidates to refrain from hanging any plastic election posters within the Johnstown Community.

A few candidates needed a reminder and some didn't hang a single one anywhere in Navan! Will you be voting for a candidate who stands out for all the wrong reasons?

Those who've complied and are environmentally conscious present a very encouraging public statement and respect the community request. It's an action that the community should applaud.

The needless single use of plastics can be prevented especially by those wishing to represent the Community at Council Level.

May 24th Election

We've compiled a simple Navan Council Election Candidate Listing of who you could vote to elect to represent you as Navan Councillor.

Decision Pending

The decision on Johnstown's planning application to have a playground outside the School Campus is now in the hands of the Council.

NEW Gym

We've met the new Tenant, we've seen some interior changes, and we are delighted that the previously derelict building on Metges Road is gaining a lease of new life and finally being transformed.

After a few years of waiting we know that the top floor and a portion of the ground floor are due to open in June.

Check out Feel Fit Gym Facebook Page to see what they already have in their Dublin Gym.

#LoveNavan

The new group is taking shape, they're calling on those interested in making a local difference, those able to shape a better Navan, and those with ideas, abilities and enthusiasm to come forward, sign up and help.

Could this be you?

Flowers Returning

Johnstown Tidy Towns have set plans in motion to repeat the flower display and transform the appearance of St Martha's Bridge.

Riverside Access.

Revealing the River Boyne Athlumney Trail last month surprised quite a few. Many more local people now know that we do actually have a local riverside path..... albeit not advertised and we don't want to spoil it either.

A capital grant application is being made to create simple changes to make it more accessible, to enhance the local area with better facilities, to benefit local businesses and to create a new community attraction.

Read more about the vision.

Petrol Station Verge

Last year's 'Big Dig' at the former Petrol Station not only encountered rock hard soil but drought too.

JTT are now ready to revisit it after a full season being weedkiller free. The signs of life are helping to revitalise the soil and the Bees were certainly glad we left them a few dandelions.

Since the weeds play a vital role in the food chain for many insects some areas will host them but in a more presentable form.

The soil is going to be turned over and a gentle planting session will be held at the end of May / early June.

Local Rugby Promotion

Congratulations to Navan RFC defeating Queen's University 34 to 19 at home in the last game of the season.

For 3 years in a row the team has now gained AIL division promotion and will start next season in Div 1B.

New Pilates Studio

In June Haven Studios will open their new Pilates Studio in the shop adjacent to the Church in Old Johnstown Village.

Exhibition Photos

If you missed the Heritage Exhibition of Johnstown earlier in May you can see a few photos on the Johnstown Village Navan Facebook Page.

Park Closing

Rathbeggan Lakes is another venue hit by unaffordable insurance hikes and has announced closure of its current facilities at the end of the summer season.

Closing Down

After more than 30 years we're sad to report that Christie's Interiors, Navan is closing down.

We visited last September and if you've an eye for a bargain then get there fast.

Exam Help

Joe McCormack provides excellent advice for those entering the School Exam Season.

Relax Kids

Lisa introduces her new Navan Classes aimed at helping our youngest children to 'relax'.

Keeping Us Safe

Meath Roads Policing Unit conducted a multi agency checkpoint on the M3 approach road during the Bank Holiday Weekend.

We've raised the issue of Drink Driving and NCT checks in previous articles and there really is no excuse.

Expect to see more of these checks in the future.

Walk into the Light

Well done to the local Navan Community who participated in the very early hours of Saturday and celebrated Life and Community Support.
