Charity Donation Changed.
An amendment has been made to Councilor Alan Lawes' Discretionary Fund 2021 charity donation.
Click for More Details
In May this year 5 registered charities were selected by public vote to receive equal shares of his €15,000 fund and which Meath County Council will be distributing in the coming days.
The Inner City Helping Homeless were one of the charities selected. Due to the unfortunate circumstances currently surrounding the charity, and uncertainty about its future, Cllr Lawes has initiated his right to 'a final decision' and has had to withhold his donation to the group. Alan explains his decision in the video clip and is unanimously supported by the voting oversight committee.
Of the remaining eligible charities entered into the 2021 public vote the Simon Community has been identified as being the next benefactor of the €3,000 donation. Operating from an office within Navan they also provide services and support to the homeless.
The revised 2021 awards selected by the public vote is as follows
St Mary's Special School, Johnstown
Core Ireland, Meath
Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Navan Unit
Involve Youth Project Meath, Unity Group
The Simon Community
