Scam Phonecalls

Meath Crime Prevention warn households not to engage with the latest 'Fraud Callers':

We are aware that more people have been receiving calls from fraudsters purporting to be calling from the Department of Social Protection or other official Departments. These callers may say that your account has shown suspicious activity and that an arrest warrant has been issued for you. They will then ask for your PPS number and other personal details. Often the call is automated and you are then requested to press a digit to speak to someone in person.

Many of these calls are coming from (083) numbers. Please do not engage with these calls. Hang up. Never provide personal or financial details over the phone. If you have fallen victim to this scam, please alert your financial institution immediately and also report the matter to Gardaí.
