Going The Extra Mile.

How amazing is this?

The Bailis Downs estate grass contractor is praised by Johnstown Tidy Towns for taking unusual care to work around this delicate cowslip that was just in flower during the 1st grass cut of the year.

Would you be willing to see more of these lawn flowers during #NoMowMay?

Sky Dive

We all know Emma-Jane and if you don't, you will after reading this post! So here's the story ...

Emma-Jane is going to throw herself out of a plane very soon! She's a mad yoke! But it's for an absolutely amazing cause. She will jump in aid of Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland - YSPI

She is doing it with her friend Carol, and her son Keith, who tragically lost their 16-year-old son and brother Evan to suicide in 2019. Evan, a student at Coláiste Na Mí, was a neighbour to Emma-Jane and a dear friend of her boys who all play their football with us here in Walterstown.

Between them they have to raise €2,800 in order to complete the jump and they need your help. Will you sponsor Emma, Carol and Keith here https://skydive.yspi.ie/emmajanecampbell5 and help them make their target for this wonderful cause?

A sea of dandelions fills the lawns along north Metges Road.

Johnstown Tidy Towns is encouraging those who manage estate lawns to refrain from having them cut until late April. This encourages lawn flowers such as dandelions, daisies, and cowslip, to flourish and provide food for pollinators at a time when they need it the most.

Do your part and join in #NoMowMay next month to encourage biodiversity.

The 4 local schools which also include Ard Ri CNS, St Stephen's NS, and Colaiste na Mi secondary school, will be helping to produce over a thousand sunflowers for the Johnstown Sunflower Trail 2022.

Don't Mow Let It Grow.

The Easter school holidays are fast approaching and the temptation might be there to get the lawnmower out. Perhaps you'll consider the wildlife who value areas of longer grass, especially the flowering daisies and dandelions.

The date for Easter changes every year but Mother Nature has her own dates and it's too soon to cut the lawns.

Reduce your grass cutting to benefit biodiversity. More information on www.Pollinators.ie

Coffee & Bake Sale Fundraiser

Spread the word folks! This Saturday, in association with the Irish Red Cross, we will host a coffee morning and bake sale in support of the humanitarian response in Ukraine. The event will take place from 10am until 1pm in the bar and lobby of the clubhouse. A huge thank you in advance to our friends in Maguires Hill of Tara and McGranes Milk Barn for their generous support of the event.

We would really appreciate it if our members and members of our community in Johnstown and Walterstown would row in behind the event and get baking Friday evening. You can drop off the goodies at the clubhouse on Saturday morning.

So if you're in the club on Saturday morning for training or for Meath GAA or Meath LGFA fixtures, please bring a few bob and pop in to support the event.

Looking forward to seeing you all there
