Family Day Out Fundraiser

The Ardboyne Hotel host a Family Day to raise funds in aid of Warrior Nahyan Sunday August 1st 2.00pm.

We have something for everyone on the day from Bouncy Castles Popcorn Machine / Kid's entertainment, Finger Food Amazing Spot prizes

Help Nahyan fight Cancer and all tickets purchased on the day will be donated to Warrior Nahyan to help him get America for his treatment

Registration opens today for a fast road race on 29th August with 2 waves of 200 runners.

These activity mornings will consist of 3 Go for Life games including:

Ladies Social Tag Rugby

Meath LSP and Navan RFC are collaborating to bring you a Ladies Social Tag Rugby programme!

👉 Suitable for women (18+) and all fitness levels! This programme is ideal for complete beginners and those with previous rugby experience.

➡It's non- competitive, relaxed and fun!! This new programme is a great way to gain fitness and learn a new skill without the rough and tumble of regular rugby!

If you have always wanted to give Tag Rugby a go, come and join us for this 6 week programme! 😀

Dawn to Dusk

SOSAD Navan announce the registration is now open for their annual walk 'Dawn to Dusk' to be held Sunday 12th September.

All registrations can be done online at https://buff.ly/3reCOjO with 27 venues across Louth, Monaghan, Meath and Cavan where you can collect your registration T shirt, route suggestions and light refreshments.

Whether you want to challenge yourself, take part in the event as a family, or have a few friends together, your support and participation in our Dawn to Dusk event will help us to keep delivering our life saving service to our community.

If you use plastic drinks bottles then the Tidy Towns group will show you how to use them to water your garden plants more quickly and efficiently.

Flowers for Johnstown

Beechmount Garden Centre donated 100's of Geraniums and Lobelia plants to the Tidy Towns group and all are used within the day by residents groups.

Wild Colours

Near the southern entrance of the Johnstown People's Park, Metges Road, the wildflowers planted by the Tidy Towns group has now erupted in colour and is attracting pollinators.

Healthy Age Friendly Homes

Launched today

'The Healthy Age Friendly Homes Programme is an initiative, funded by Sláintecare, that aims to enable older people to continue living in their homes or in a home more suited to their needs, live with a sense of independence and autonomy, be and feel part of their community, and support the avoidance of early or premature admission to long term residential care.'

One-third of the Sunflower Trail locations are now growing 80 plants as part of Johnstown Tidy Towns Summer SunflowerTrail.

Walk-In Covid Test Centre

Concerns that approx 75% of cases in Meath are being reported in the under 40 age group, mostly unvaccinated, have prompted a walk-in Covid 19 test centre to open for 3 days at County Hall on Railway Street, C15 AW81.


  • Thursday 8th, 1pm to 7pm

  • Friday 9th, 9.30am to 7pm

  • Saturday10th, 9.30am to 6pm

New Road Traffic

The new Farganstown access road comes into use today for vehicles exiting the old Athlumney Road.

Initially, it's only ONE WAY southbound traffic from the new roundabout to the Kentstown /Metges Road junction.

Volunteers at Athlumeny Hall planted the 60th sunflower within the Johnstown Tidy Towns Summer Trail.

Helping Our Homeless

Local Navan Cllr Alan Lawes has been struggling to engage Meath County Council with services to support the homeless. Today he took individual messages to Buvinda House when his requests for emergency assistance as an elected representative went unanswered.

Navan NCT Opens

2 lane inspection centre opened this morning in Navan to the relief of local motorists. You no longer need to travel to Kells (which is closed until Thursday, July 8th for refurbishment), Drogheda or Dublin test centres.

Located in the Mullaghboy Industrial Estate it's squeaky clean, has a decent waiting room, and even has customer toilets.

Recycle Your Paint

Meath County Council announces their new initiative to recycle your old paint.

You can take it to the Navan Recycling Centre ( €2 entry gate fee plus €1 per paint can) and in collaboration with the Rediscovery Centre they will reblend paint to sell online and offer to voluntary groups at a discount.
