On October 13 1990 more than 800 people joined the first Johannesburg Pride march organised by a gay and lesbian organisation.. On Saturday the LGBTQ+ community celebrated the 35th anniversary of Johannesburg Pride on the streets in Sandton.

Pride Month commemorates years of struggle for civil rights and the ongoing pursuit for equal justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intergender people, commonly known as the LGBTQ+ community.

On Saturday Sandton was very colourful when members of the community and supporters started the annual parade on West Street and ended the event with a festival.
