In commemoration of Heritage Month, Tabia invites her listeners on a journey of self-reflection and contemplation in a heartfelt song with raw and emotional lyrics.
The songbird has released a new soulful and introspective song, Syabuza, meaning we are asking, that delves deep into the complexities of life, vulnerability, regret, and spiritual awakening.
"Syabuza is a song that revolves around the theme of seeking answers and second chances, as it explores the aftermath of a difficult spiritual journey," she told TshisaLIVE.
"I express the desire to reconnect with our forefathers, but instead of directly rejecting the calling or expressing regret, this song adds a layer of emotional nuance, revealing the vulnerability and fear of being rejected by them."
Tabia, real name, Thembeka Khumalo, has come a long way since she released her album, The Journey, in 2018 as a perusal of her solo career after being a backup vocalist for the late jazz icon Hugh Masekela.
She's also lending her enchanting vocals on some of the most popular amapiano and house music songs, working with renowned stars including DJ Supta, Leo Guardo, Black Motion, as well as Tyler ICU.
Ahead of her latest album, Untold Stories, which gives her followers a full picture of who she is and what she's endured, her latest single paints a picture of what the album has to offer.
"Untold Stories tells people about my spiritual journey. I'm more comfortable with my gift, my voice, and the critiques and the encouragements. I'm more comfortable in my own beliefs and in my skin."
