Rapper Zakwe is set to give viewers a front-row seat to his weight-loss journey on Moja Love's new show Heavyweight.
The show, which will premiere on April 13 at 7pm, will showcase the rapper and other people struggling with obesity.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the 37-year-old said he was excited to make a small-screen comeback showcasing something that was progressive and could help others who suffer from the same problem.
“It's every celebrity or artist's dream to have something like this. The show is about people battling to lose weight and trying hard to lose weight. It will show the journey, lifestyle and what I eat, going to a psychiatrist, people who motivated me to lose weight,” he said.
Zakwe, whose real name is Ntokozo Zakwe, is known for his hit songs Bathi Ngyachoma, Sebentin and Thixo Wam.
Beyond the limelight he has been struggling with his weight but is happy to make the change.
“The problem I'm facing is I'm overweight. Viewers will see me going to gym and jogging around my neighbourhood in an effort to lose weight. I can feel myself that I'm overweight — I'm 162kg and that's big weight for someone my age. Viewers will see me living my life with my family, what I'm drinking and what I eat, how I prepare for my performances.”
