Five minutes with Mzansi's rising star Okuhle Mthethwa
He's not even 10 years old and he's already performing onstage

Nine-year-old Okuhle Mthethwa is one of Mzansi's youngest artists on a mission to boost name in the music industry.
Recently he performed at Masweeti Fest, Eeque's Homecoming in Springs, alongside rapper Kwesta, Scott Maphuma, Kamo Mphela, Shebeshxt, DBN Gogo, Leemckrazy and others.
Hailing from Springs, Ekurhuleni, Mthethwa was inspired by his father, who used to record music in his presence.
TshisaLIVE caught up with the rising star to talk about his budding music career and more:
Who are you biggest music influencers, and which notable artists do you see yourself working with one day?
I used to like Killer Gau, the way he used to flow on songs and dance moves as well were not disappointing. I grew to love music through my father's passion of composing and recording songs — at the moment I like Scott Maphuma and I'm willing to work with him.
Tell us more about your experience performing at Masweeti Fest, Eeque's Homecoming in Springs? What was going through your mind during the performance?
It was a great feeling rubbing shoulders with the best in the music business, and I have learnt a few things with regards to my performance, so I can excel and keep my fans entertained while on stage.
Tell us about your musical background and training? Have you had any formal lessons or are you self-taught?
Nobody has trained me, it just happened, I would say I inherited this from my father because I was exposed to music since I was born.
What inspires your lyrics and melodies when creating amapiano tracks?
I like amapiano like every kids does; all of my peers like amapiano, so I would say amapiano is our generation's music.
How do you balance your school work with your music career, and what advice would you give to other young artists trying to do the same?
During the school days I focus more on my school work and do music in my spare time. I started doing professional music in 2023, and soon will be looking forward to release a single.
