Here is a phenomenon that many folks have confessed to many times via e-mail and other messages on social media. Tell me if this has happened to you, too: a certain item is dominating the news cycle. At every turn, on every channel — from EWN to eNCA, from Newzroom Afrika to the SABC — news outlets carry it as a lead story. However, despite all your responsible citizenry and appreciation for the gravity of the story, you realise, with growing discomfort, that you’re struggling to care about it...
